CAD Technician - Highways

The role

It is an excellent opportunity to join a busy team of Transport Planners and Highway Engineers in Central London, with flexible in-office time. The team work on a wide variety and scale of developments and local authority projects ranging from 5 dwellings to large new settlements and major film production studios and office/retail/leisure developments. We’re looking for a technician with good technical skills, an interest in good design and keen to grow with the job, with training provided. The successful candidate will be a well-organised, collaborative, proactive at managing their tasks as well as  interested in expanding knowledge and skills.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• The transport elements of development and street design (concept and feasibility highway design, walking and cycling measures, car parks and servicing)
• Interrogating designs through swept path analysis and application of design standards
• Range from initial concept / feasibility studies for large masterplan sites
• Delivering the transport elements of complex planning applications through to supporting detailed design and access strategies being delivered on site

Experience and skills required:

• 2+ years of experience using AutoCAD and other associated Autodesk design software (such as AutoTrack) in a transport or civil engineering/highways background
• Experience of preparing robust, visually engaging supporting material using AutoCAD (sketches, drawings)
• Some knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual for Streets, London Cycle Design Standards and other relevant guidelines
• Interpersonal skills required to collaborate with the wider team
• Accuracy and attention to detail with ability to work within the deadlines
